Aiming for Grade 4/5 in GCSE English Language
As teachers, we know how important it is for students to achieve grades 4+ or 5+ and, as experienced senior examiners, we know how to get them there. We will work with your borderline students and provide them with the inside knowledge they need to maximise their exam performance. These sessions can be a half-day, full-day or a series of sessions over a period of time. We are happy to cater these sessions to the school’s individual needs.
PP/Disadvantaged support sessions
“Closing the attainment gap” is more important than ever. By working with a small group of students we can help narrow the gap by providing differentiated experiences that will inspire students. Small group work will allow students the extra attention and support they need in order to maximise their potential and increase their confidence in English. This service is offered across all key stages as often earlier intervention allows for greater success. We are happy to cater these sessions to the school’s individual needs.
More Able / Gifted & Talented Masterclasses
Do you want to challenge your high ability students to reach new levels? Through a Masterclass we can provide students with tried and tested methods of achieving grades 8 and 9 in both English Language and English Literature GCSEs. We will teach your more able students how to ensure their answers are conceptualised and sophisticated. As senior examiners, we can provide students with inside knowledge and a range of exemplar material to help maximise their potential. These sessions can be focused on a particular element of the examinations e.g. An Inspector Calls, Unseen Poetry, Language Question 5 writing sections. We also offer Masterclasses across all key stages and can adapt our sessions to suit your school’s curriculum as well as your students.
GCSE English Literature study days
These half-day or full-day study days provide students with revision of a key element of the GCSE English Literature course. This could be a session on a singular text such as Macbeth or could be a study session on more than one element of the course such as unseen analysis. These could have a revision focus or provide students with a confident grounding in a new text. We are happy to cater these sessions to your school’s individual needs.
GCSE English Language Spoken Language component
We can work with your students to prepare them for their Spoken Language presentation through a series of sessions to meet your needs. These could include setting up the presentation task, providing students with model exemplars and success criteria, supporting them through planning and rehearsing their presentations as well as the actual assessments.
GCSE re-sit sessions
For students who didn’t quite get the grade 4 in English Language, we can provide resources and sessions to ensure greater success in their GCSE re-sit. These sessions can be over a period of time or as a workshop to provide students with a refresher prior to their exam. We are happy to cater these sessions to the school’s individual needs.
Term-time, Weekend and Holiday Crash Courses
What better way to make impact and demonstrate progress than a weekend or series of days of complete immersion in English? We can offer a two-day or five-day crash course whereby we host a range of sessions catered to your students’ needs. A typical two-day course could look at how to achieve success in a single English Language GCSE paper. A typical five-day course could look at how to maximise success in both English Language papers and end in a walking talking mock which would be marked by us. We can deliver these sessions at your school or we can arrange a venue to suit your needs.
